International FTFY Steps to Enrollment

Meet All Deadlines

If you miss an SJSU admission deadline, we will withdraw your application for admission, and you will not be able to attend SJSU for the term you originally intended. If you have an extreme hardship or unusual circumstance that may cause you to miss one of our deadlines, contact admissions@sjsu.edu immediately.

Steps to Enrollment

Before starting the Steps to Enrollment process, make sure you have activated your MySJSU account. SJSU communicates by posting items to your “To Do List” and sending messages to your MySJSU account.

Int'l FTFY Steps to Enrollment

Step 1 - Submit Your Intent to Enroll If admitted, you must complete the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process by the date posted on your MySJSU “To Do List”. The Next Steps Intent to Enroll process includes accepting SJSU’s offer of admission, signing up for Orientation, and paying the nonrefundable enrollment deposit. All steps must be completed to maintain admission at SJSU.
Step 2 - Sign up for Orientation Orientation is a mandatory two-day overnight program. During the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process, you will select an orientation date.

IMPORTANT! If you are not currently in the U.S., you will need to select an orientation session that is no earlier than 30 days prior to the start of classes. This restriction is due to F-1 visa entry regulations.
Step 3 - Pay Your Orientation Fee In order to complete the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process, you will be prompted to pay your orientation fee via our TransAct website (link provided in your Next Steps portal).
Step 4 - Request Form I-20 International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) will collect the following items before issuing a Form I-20, once the terms and conditions of your admission have been met:

1. Bank Letter/Statement
2. Declaration of Finance
3. Copy of Passport

Please review the information on the pre-arrival webpage for more information on the process of applying for your visa, after obtaining your I-20 from ISSS.

If you are currently in another nonimmigrant staus (H-4, F-2, E-2, L-2, etc.) and want to convert to an F-1 visa, you will need to work with ISSS to apply for a change of status.
Step 5 - Apply for Campus Housing **REQUIREMENT CURRENTLY SUSPENDED**

This is required even if you already have coverage through other means, such as individual, family, or corporate policies. You can register for the mandatory SJSU health insurance online.
Step 8 - Attend Orientation (mandatory) Orientation is mandatory. If you are late or leave during any portion of the program, your admission will be withdrawn.
Step 9 - Submit Final Transcripts (with Graduation Date) and Documents Continue to check your MySJSU “To Do List” for transcript and document deadlines.
