Music Education
San José State University proudly offers two degrees in Music
Education through the School of Music: The BM in Music Teacher Preparation and the
MM in Music Education. Both programs equip future educators to become effective, innovative
music teachers who make a positive difference in the lives of their students and communities.
SJSU’s
music educator alumni have a strong presence in the state of the California, and our
program has an excellent reputation of preparing music teachers for long and successful
careers.
In addition, the Music Education area coordinates with the College of Education to offer a California Single Subject Credential which certifies teachers to be instructors of K-12 students in all music areas.
