We’re excited to invite you to San José State University for a weekend dedicated to celebrating our amazing Spartan families! Whether this is your first time joining us or you’re a returning guest, Spartan Family Weekend is your chance to connect with campus, spend time with your student, and experience the vibrant spirit of the SJSU community.
Our event's schedule is filled with engaging events like a family mixer to breakout sessions to social gatherings, all designed to give you a closer look at your student’s life at SJSU.
At the same time, we know every family has different interests and needs. That’s why we encourage you to customize your weekend! In addition to our core programming, there are plenty of exciting things happening on campus and in downtown San José for you to explore at your own pace.
Spartan Family Weekend: Day 1
Friday, November 6 from 4:30-6:30pm
Enjoy interactive, family-friendly activities, including Minute-to-Win-It challenges, bowling, meet & greet, and raffles. A light dinner is included.
Spartan Family Weekend: Day 2
Saturday, November 7 from 8:30am-12:30pm
Join us for Breakfast with the President that includes a welcome from campus leadership and the Family Advisory Board. Guests will then choose from interactive educational sessions led by Career Services, CAPS, the Family Advisory Board, and other campus partners. The morning concludes with a boxed lunch, information about upcoming activities, and opportunities to continue enjoying Spartan Family Weekend.
Spartan Families Give Back
This year, Spartan Family Weekend will also include Spartan Families Give Back, a simple way for families to support the Spartan community. Families can help restock the Spartan Food Pantry or bring professional clothing for the Spartan Career Closet.
What families can bring to Spartan Family Weekend:
SJSU Cares/Spartan Food Pantry Donation Guide
Canned proteins, beans and lentils
Rice, pasta, crackers, and easy-to-prepare or microwave-friendly meals
Granola bars, breakfast bars, trail mix, cereal, and oatmeal
Canned fruit and vegetables and shelf-stable milk
Hygiene essentials, period products, and dental care items
Household basics such as laundry pods and dish soap
Please bring items that are clean or sealed, unexpired, and easy for students to
use.

Clean, ready-to-wear suits and blazers
Dress shirts and blouses
Dress pants, dresses, and skirts
Ties, belts, and socks
Professional shoes
SJSU Football vs. Northern Illinois
Following the morning activities, families are invited to attend the Spartan football game as we take on Northern Illinois. A separate ticket purchase is required for admission – visit the Spartan Athletics website for additional information.
